DANNY DIED THAT DAY Caleb Voyles Danny Voyles Based on, The Fall of 2020 EXT. DAWN (Bright daylight music begins) yellow Caleb walks through empty streets in the soft blue light before daybreak. He is the Urban embodiment of the spirit of St. Francis of Assisi, a wandering nomadic man who has no material place or means in this world. Shades hide his eyes from the world and keep him in the fog of unconsciousness. A cup of hot coffee and a pack of cigarettes are his accompanying spirits of wolf and dove. “Transcend The Bullshit” a motto in dreamy white across the charcoal black of his mug are his only words of truth in this daydream. Caleb sits on the rails of an over pass perfectly content and scratching at the fringes of nirvana. He smokes. He drinks. He bathes in the life giving light of the dawning sun. The world passes by and he pays no mind. All the while his meditative dream is balancing on the precipice of his ever looming demise. A wrong step and he would fall from this bridge to his death. He exhales a lung full of tar, and the spirit leaves his body and flies into the glorious light. (The shoe drops and the music changes)blue The worm sits in his filth. The man, Caleb is left alone in the darkness, a nightmare or reality? He drinks from a bottle of Daniel’s venomous brew as he sits curled up in a pile of clothes, all his shed skins that yet remain beyond their time. He looks at his decrepit mask in the mirror and tries to clean his soul. He is bogged down by loss (Voice over starts in music) In the fog of a depressed world he stands before the alter of his once future hope. CMPA towers over him like a judgmental goddess. He heaves his bag up on his shoulder bearing his burden in defiance. He walks away. (voice over ends) He pulls down his hopes and dreams from the wall and shelves of a life he will never live (FSU memorabilia and well wishes from loved ones) he puts them in a small wooden coffin, what the Eros possessed call a hope chest in defiance of the world of men. He packs bags and empties a room of its soul. 2. He moves to leave this life behind. A hope hung on the wall catches his eyes. A mantra meant to inspire takes on new life. One small hint of hope. He walks out and closes the door...
